The Jewel Environmental Initiative (JEI), Gombe State ACReSAL focal NGO, embarked on a tree-planting exercise in Sabon Gari Bogo (Hayin Kwarin Misau), as part of efforts to support the environmental protection and climate-change mitigation initiatives of the Gombe State Government.

The exercise, resulted in the planting of 550 trees of different species, and also featured the free distribution of tree seedlings to members of the community.

The initiative is in line with the environmental vision of the Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, popularly known as ‘The Green Governor,’ who has demonstrated strong commitment to combating climate change, desertification and environmental degradation across the state.

During the exercise, the District Head of Sabon Gari Bogo, Alhaji Dahiru Waziri, expressed appreciation to Gombe state ACReSAL and its focal organisation, the Jewel Environmental Initiative (JEI), for the intervention and extended support to the community.

He praised the initiative as timely and assured the organisers of the community’s continued support and commitment to government policies and programmes aimed at moving Gombe State forward.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Jewel Environmental Initiative, Comrade Samaila Bima (Mai Gwambawa), represented by Malam Dahiru Adamu, who served as the team lead of the exercise, called on members of the community to take proper care of the trees planted.

He further urged residents to continue watering and protecting the seedlings even after the rainy season to ensure that they survive and grow to maturity.

Mallam Dahiru described the exercise as a success, noting that the people of Sabon Gari Bogo embraced the tree-planting initiative with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility towards environmental protection.

The exercise was attended by the JEI team, the Sabon Gari Bogo ACReSAL Community Association and other members of the community and was concluded with a demonstration of the importance of community participation in addressing environmental challenges and supporting efforts to build a greener, healthier and more resilient Gombe State.
